Gifts in a Jar

Last Spring Joe and I went to Florence, Oregon to spend the weekend at the beach.  While I was shopping there I found this great book called Gifts in a Jar with recipes to make your own gifts.  After I got off of work today I braved the crowd at Fred Myers to buy all of the ingredients I needed to make double chocolate hot cocoa mix.

These two are for my co-workers Jennifer & Serena.

These two I made Oregon State University themed complete with candy cane ornaments.  I gave them to our fellow OSU alumni friends who we spent our weekends with this fall watching football.

Merry Kiss-Miss!

I love vintage Christmas ornaments and I am so lucky that my mom gives me so many!  This year I decorated my tree with them along with a few news ones added here and there.

My favorite Christmas decoration this year is this wreath my mom just made me using vintage ornaments.  I was shocked by how beautuful it is!

Happily Ever After

It's been ages since I have posted on my blog.  That's because I have been so busy planning my wedding!!  My boyfriend asked me to marry him on Sunset Beach on October 1st.  Our dog Sadie was there with us because he told me we were going clamming for the morning.  Once we got to the beach he said that it was not going to be a good day to clam.  We had his truck parked out on the sand and we sat on the tailgate facing the ocean and he got down on one knee in the sand and asked me!

These are some beautiful flowers my friends MaryAnn and Margie gave me along with the cutest lil sign that says "and they lived happily ever after".

Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show

Wow, I can't believe that July is almost coming to an end.  There are only a few months out of the year that we get warm sunny weather in Oregon and I have been trying to enjoy it.  I went to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in Sisters, Oregon with my mom earlier this month.   I have some great pictures, but they are on my mom's camera and she has not quite figured out how to email them to me :)  I will get some posted soon.  I saw a red and white Irish Chain quilt that has me even more inspired to make a quilt for Joe and I's bedroom.  I just haven't decided on what color of fabric to use.  My dad rode his motorcycle to meet us after the show and the three of us camped out at a nearby campground for the night.  I could definitely see myself living in Sisters.  I posted some pictures below of the town that I found until I can post my pictures.  Well I better head to bed because my 5:00am wake up call to take Sadie for a run is going to come very quickly.

The town has a cozy western feel.

Behind the homes are the Three Sisters Mountains.  I have hiked to the top of the South Sister twice now with my dad.

COFFEE

Check out this cute little towel that I made for a friend.  She is so giving and is always making crafts for all of her friends and family.  I hope she loves it!!

SUMMER

So I have successfully finished spring term of school so I have been having a little fun!

I went on my first clamming trip at the coast with Joe.  I was able to find the clams on my own and dig them out of the sand with the clam gun. Joe was impressed with me!

I started reading the book Twilight and have become obsessed with it.  I take it everywhere with me in case I get any free time to read.

Tonight I am drinking a glass of wine watching Sex & the City while Carrie and Berger check out Prada.

Look at those hot boots!

Happy Mothers Day!

I may only be a mom to my dog Sadie, but I got spoiled today!  I woke up to my boyfriend Joe cooking breakfast for us.  Then I walked outside to two new hanging plants!!  Lucky me!

The weather was so nice today that I decided to plant some more flowers.

This lavender smells amazing!

Sadie got me these roses, but I think here grandma was behind it  :)

Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

Back in February I was looking at one of my favorite blogs by Heather Bullard who works for the new magazine Flea Market Style.  She posted a blog on how to make Mason Jar soap dispensers.  She uses her's in her garden, but they would also look great in a kitchen or bathroom.  My boyfriend Joe and I decided these would make great Mother's Day gifts!  I really need to give most of the credit to Joe since he did most of the work making them and to my mom for providing all of the jars.

Coffee Cozy!

I know I can't drink my hot Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte without a coffee cozy.  So I was excited when my mom and I's friend MaryAnn made me my own cozy out of some great coffee inspired fabric.  She has even sold some to a coffee shop in Sisters, Oregon who bought them to sell to their customers.

Loves it!

Market Bag

My mom has recently started making these great market bags.  She is working on one for me right now!  Besides carrying groceries in it I think I am going to use it for toting around my homework and magazines.

Coffee Can Towel

This year one of my new year's resolutions was to learn how to embroider.  Last weekend my mom and our friend Mary Ann and I signed up to take a beginners class at a fabric store in Dallas, Oregon called Grandma's Attic.  Our teacher was awesome and a less than a week later I have finished my first towel!!

Pansies

Yesterday my mom and I stopped by Egan Gardens to celebrate their annual grand re-opening.  The sun was out and the parking lot was full.  We both got some pansies and went home where my mom came up with some great ways to plant them.  I love how she put some chalk board paint on this old metal bucket!

Quilt Blocks

Here are a few quilt blocks that I was working on Friday evning using some 30's fabric.  So fun to make!

Coffee and Magazines!

Two of my favorite things together are a hot cup of coffee and a good magazine.  So today after work I stopped by Safeway and picked up my copy of the NEW magazine Flea Market Style and a Starbucks coffee!  Isn't the cover great!
